Ubuntu does support Windows 7 Aero Snap like window snapping / movement. By default, you can put windows to the upper left/right or lower left/right corner using the shortcut ctrl+alt+keypad{7,9,1,3}, respectively.
However, a keypad is not available on most notebooks and the ubuntu system settings dialog offers no way to remap those keybindings. In order change the keybindings you first need to install the CompizConfig Settings Manager:
sudo apt install compizconfig-settings-manager
Next, open up the CompizConfig Settings Manager and navigate to ‘Window Management’/‘Grid’. Here you can change the keybindings.
